Rubi, owner of Muerte Studios, is a first-generation Mexican American stop-motion animator from East Las Vegas. After dancing with the reaper many times from a young age, darkness became her confidant, helping her creativity and sometimes dark ideas come to life. After believing the lies that “you can’t make a living from art” from the adults who urged her to find a “real job,” she took a step into the unknown, entering the art world and finding her path. That path led her to stop-motion animation that makes your skin crawl in the best way.
